Wireline drill rods connect the surface drilling equipment to the core barrel and drill bit at the bottom of the borehole. They perform several important functions:

The drill rod joint is one of the most critical areas

Accurate machining of the drill rod joint helps provide reliable rod-to-rod connection, stable torque transmission, proper thread engagement, reduced risk of premature thread damage and easier assembly and disassembly.

💡 Suggestion: A thread close-up photo on the product page is usually more convincing than showing only the full rod body, because the joint is the most critical part of the drill string.

The letters A / B / N / H / P represent different core drilling size systems. As the size increases, drill rod outside diameter increases, available core diameter generally increases, core barrel size increases, and drilling equipment load requirement can also increase.

⚠️ Important: Do not assume that a larger rod size automatically means greater drilling depth. Drilling depth capability is not determined by rod size alone. It is also affected by rod design, joint strength, hole deviation, rod wear, rig capacity, torque, pullback capacity and borehole condition. Rated depth capacity is normally based on specific new rods, vertical holes and standard operating conditions, and must be de-rated after wear.
